I was not surprised to hear the Israeli government's refusal to meet with Mr Adams, because of his willingness to meet with the democratically elected leaders of Hamas. George W. Bush called for democratic elections in Palestine, and when the plan backfired,and Hamas elected, the voices of the Palestinian people were silenced by Israeli attacks on Gaza. A case of 'don't do as I do, do as I say" from the American backed Israeli occupying force. If Israel are serious about bringing peace to the inaptly titled 'Holy Land', then only through open-dialogue will there be any step in that direction, and that means talking to your enemies, as well as your friends.
