But I came across this interesting image over on Máirtín Ó Muilleor's Blog of well known Hurler and GAA enthusiast Edward Carson:

Unfortunately some people have concluded that Edward Carson played 'Gaelic' hurling. The hurling Carson played had nothing to do with Gaelic sports. 'Hurling' in those days referred to what is the antecedent of hockey and had no connection with Ireland.

ReplyDeleteCome on now, he played Hurling while at Trinity College Dublin.
Hurling is Hurling, it's a Gaelic Sport and s core element of the GAA.

i heard he played for a team called Wolfe Tone....rumour has it....
